At Adoor, Sree Parthasarathy Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is also known as Parthasarathy-Parthan's charioteer, another name for Arjuna. The temple is celebrating its annual festival of ten days by performing the Gajamela (elephant pageantry). Hundreds of people throng into the temple premises, popularly known as Adoor Gajamela, to see this spectacle where nine caparisoned tuskers come in to entice everyone. The festival begins on the asterism of Thiruvonam and ends on the asterism of Rohini during the month of Makaram in Malayalam (January-February).
