The Krishnapuram Palace is a rare architectural specimen of the Kerala style, complete with gabled roofs, narrow corridors, and dormer windows. Kayamkulam Kingdom rulers' home, Palace age is unknown. Renovated in the 18th century, the palace under the Department of Archaeology is today a protected monument. It has been recently refurbished again according to the scientific techniques recommended for the conservation of heritage buildings. This unpretentious village near Kayamkulam once constituted the abode of the apparent Kayamkulam royal house heirs.The 'Gajendra Moksham' is a huge mural depicting an elephant saluting Lord Vishnu in respect while the other gods, goddesses and sages look on. This largest single mural band of its kind ever found in Kerala, at 49 sq m, welcomes anyone who visits Krishnapuram Palace. It is said that the chief deity of the first was Lord Vishnu while the royal family was Kayamkulam. This mural was positioned from the pond at the entrance to the palace to allow the rulers to adorn the deity after their bath.
