The Air India Express Flight from Dubai to Kozhikode in Kerala crashed Friday night on landing at Kozhikode International Airport, at least 17 people were killednclude pilot and co - pilot and 110 injured.
All 190 people onboard Air India flight who met an accident at Karipur airport were transferred to hospitals in districts Kozhikode and Malappuram. At least seventeen people died. The flight was due to land in Karipur at 7.27 pm. Those wounded were admitted to 13 hospitals located in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kottaykkal and Manjeri. - said Malappuram District Collector
At the time of the landing, no fire was registered, and the aircraft split into two after crashing into a wall. The impact brought severe damage to the cockpit. The accident occurred on Friday at around 7.40pm, when heavy rain and low visibility were present.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said two investigative teams would depart for Kozhkode early Saturday from Air India, India's Airports Authority and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.
