On Saturday Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the World Health Organization leading scientist, said that creating the COVID-19 vaccine would take at least 1 to 1.5 years.In different companies in India and many more worldwide eight vaccines are under production.
"It will usually take five to 10 years to develop a new disease vaccine under normal circumstances. In this cituation, it will take at least one to half years to find a new vaccine along with the WHO and other agencies as the discovery of a new vaccine is a minimum phase" She spoke at the Independence Day 74th ceremony at the St George Fort in Chennai with reporters after being honored by Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister.
Soumya Swaminathan has 30 years of clinical research and experience and has worked to turn her findings into effective programs.
