This weekend will be filled with Eid and Friendship festivities. The Raksha Bandhan, which honors the ties between the brother and the sister, takes place around the world on 3 August. In Sanskrit, Raksha Bandhan means "protection bond," and each year, the sisters tie rakhi on the hands of their brothers, symbolizing the bond of protection. To return, the brothers promise their sisters to protect their lives. Sisters hope for the long and happy life of their husbands, too.

This day is being celebrated in different ways around the world, not just brothers and sisters. Most people who share common relations celebrate the day by putting rakhi on the wrists of each other.
