Apple plans to produce its upcoming iPhone 12 series locally in India, according to media reports.The new iPhone 12 'Made in India' models will be available by mid next year.
Production is expected to commence at the Bengaluru plant in Narasapura. The new plant is home to contract manufacturer Taiwanese Apple, Wistron. The planned investment to manufacture the devices exceeds Rs 2,900 crore as the Taiwanese company is expected to hire up to 10,000 staff. The plant is scheduled to start production by October 2020. About 1,000 workers have already started work on the new project.
Apple recently began production of the iPhone 11 at the Chennai Foxconn plant. Apple is also scheduled to begin assembly of the SE 2020 iPhone by the end of this year.
iPhone 12, might be the fastest flagship iPhone model to be assembled locally in India. Apple has yet to launch the latest iPhone 12 series, which is expected to be delayed by a few weeks this year.
