The Tata HBX is the pre-production model of the forthcoming sub-4 meter micro SUV within the group. The concept car made is a public debut at Auto Expo 2020 and is based on the H2X concept displayed at the Geneva Motor Show 2019.The Tata HBX will be the home-grown automaker's smallest SUV and will be based on the ALFA architecture which is currently underpinning the Tata Altroz.
There were parallels to the model given the strong camoflauge, including its flared wheel arches and boxy dimensions and upright SUV-esque stance. Some highlights include eight-spoke alloy wheels sporting what appears to be 15-inch rubber and the back end featuring a high-mounted brake lamp and rear wiper.
According the design photos, the Tata HBX will most likely receive a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen device that will be placed above the dashboard. It will allow easier viewing, and therefore less interference.
HBX is actually given split headlamp configuration which for a vehicle of its size is quite a premium feature. 'Split headlamps' is a design trend in the SUV segment, and the HBX will be the next Tata product to feature split headlamps after the Harrier and the Gravitas.
In the second half of 2020, Tata plans to launch it, which poses a challenge to Maruti Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.
