Coronavirus vaccines produced in China could be ready for use by the general public as early as November, an official with the China Disease Control and Prevention Center (CDC).
In the final stage of clinical trials China has four COVID-19 vaccines. As part of an emergency use programme launched in July, at least three of these have already been offered to essential workers.
The three vaccines are being developed by a unit of state pharmaceutical giant China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and U.S.-listed Sinovac Biotech under the state's emergency use programme. In June the Chinese military approved a fourth COVID-19 vaccine being produced by CanSino Biologics for use.
Sinopharm said in July that after the completion of Phase 3 trials, its vaccine could be ready for public use by the end of this year. The COVID-19 coronavirus affects 213 countries and territories across the globe and 2 international conveyances.India has become the second country in the world after the US to record 5 million Covid-19 cases, with the last 1 million coming in a world-record time of 11 days.
