After 78,512 new cases were reported in 24 hours on Monday, India's coronavirus tally crossed the 36 lakh mark to hit 36,21,245. The toll increased to 64,469 by 971. India now has 7.81.975 active cases while the number of recovered cases has crossed 27 lakh. With the latest additional deaths, India now has the third-highest death toll in the world, surpassing Mexico (64,414 deaths).
Globally, according to the tracker by Johns Hopkins University, the coronavirus has infected more than 2,54 crore people and killed more than 8,49 lakhs. More than 1.67 crore people worldwide have recovered from the infection.
For the sixth consecutive day Monday, Andhra Pradesh registered over 10,000 cases. The state registered 10,004 new cases with 4,34,771 taking its count. The toll of the State increased from 85 to 3,969. Andhra Pradesh had prevailed over Tamil Nadu on Sunday as India 's second worst-hit county.
Maharashtra declared many relaxations in restrictions on coronavirus, enabling hotels and some government offices to operate with a capacity of 100 per cent.
