The Government of Delhi is likely to carry out the subsidy scheme under its newly introduced electric vehicle ( EV) policy from next week, officials said.



Last month the Delhi government's EV policy was told. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who introduced the initiative, said it aimed to register about five lakh electric vehicles in the city in the next five years.In a meeting with transport minister Kailash Gahlot, a senior government officer said, a demonstration of software to disburse the subsidy under the scheme was made by private bank officials.

The programme developed by ICICI bank will be used to pay the people buying electric vehicles in Delhi for subsidy payments. The subsidy scheme is scheduled to begin next week.According to its ED policy, the Delhi government will provide incentives for the purchase of electric cars up to Rs30.000 for 2-wheelers, buses, e-rickshaws and carriers, and subsidies for Rs1.5 lakh will also be given.

Registration fee and road charges under the EV policy will be waived by the government. The loan will also be issued under the scheme for low interest on electric utility vehicles.
