Google has the dark mode feature rolled out for most of its apps, including Gmail. It is believed this feature will increase your phone's battery life. And Google Maps will soon be getting support for its app-wide dark mode, too.
Although some would say that Google Maps now has a dark theme, it really doesn't count as it's confined to the navigation mode. Well, at last Google is working on adding an app-wide dark mode to Maps.Google Maps 10.50 has strings which mention dark mode settings, as spotted by 9to5Google.Users are currently only able to enable dark mode while using the navigation function.
In addition 9to5Google states that the dark theme-related strings are different from the navigation-related dark mode implementation. Therefore, if Google applies dark theme to all menus & settings and calls it a day, we should not be surprised.
The default mode is also in the White theme for everything else. It's very curious that while Google's dedicated to providing dark mode for all its products.This is similar to the way that WhatsApp took its time on the web to deliver dark theme. The study indicates the potential inclusion of the new theme in the coming months.
