Taj Mahal in Agra reopened with strict coronavirus protection guidelines this morning after being shut down for tourists for more than six months. Today, the Agra Fort reopened too.Taj Mahal, closed since March 17 About 160 tickets were booked online, but a tourist from Taiwan staying in India was the first to join.In two shifts daily to the monument, a maximum of 5,000 visitors would be permitted to view with the well-manipulated lawns a sore eye.



 Vasant Kumar Swarnkar, superintendent archaeologist of the Archaeological Survey of India (Agra circle), had said that all safety guidelines provided by the centre would have to be followed while visiting the mausoleum and the fort, which include social distancing and sanitising of hands.

Every day at the Taj Mahal, only 5,000 tourists will be allowed-2,500 before 2 PM and the rest after. 2,500 tourists will be able to visit Agra Fort every day.In order to visit the monuments, masks are necessary and all tickets must be purchased online. There will be no available ticket counters

Arun Dang, former president of the Tourism Guild, said: "It is probably the first time that the 'monument of love' that draws a large number of visitors to India has been closed for such a long time."

The reopening of heritage sites was followed by further relaxation following Unlock4 announcing the government, even though coronavirus cases in the country are rising.
