After the introduction of the BS6 emission standards earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki discontinued all the diesel engine options on the Indian market. Currently, there is no Maruti Suzuki car that provides a diesel engine option for private car buyers or commercial buyers.

Maruti Ertiga was spotted testing on roads somewhere near Delhi-NCR with the 'Tour M' badge. The sound of the engine suggests it was operating on Diesel.

Ertiga was sold with a 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel engine sourced from FIAT when it first introduced. Maruti later chose to make a 1.5 litre diesel engine of its own and ditch the Fiat mill. Maruti introduced Ertiga diesel with a 1.5 litre diesel engine mated to 6 speed Manual transmission in 2019. This was discontinued within a few months of launch, as Maruti chose not to upgrade their diesel engine to BS6 standards.

It seems, however, that the manufacturer is now working to bring the diesel engine back, and the diesel-powered variants will initially only be offered by commercial vehicles such as the Dzire Tour, Ertiga Tour M.

The BS6 Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual. Maruti also offers a 4-speed automatic transmission on the petrol version.

The CNG-petrol variant uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine but without the smart hybrid tech. It has a claimed efficiency of 26.08km/kg but the performance drops to 92PS and 122Nm.  Source : Rushlane
