Several reports have been produced over the past few months concerning the launch of the next generation Jimny SUV in India. The launch is not going to take place in India, as there will be no market for a 3 door SUV like Jimny, some reports said. Although some sources suggested that India is going to get a 4th gen Jimny, which will come with 5 doors, for a longer edition.
As demand has risen in Europe and Japan, Jimny's new generation has been well received in international markets. The Jimny Sierra is assembled in India after being brought into the country via CKD route from Japan for the global markets to reduce the production burden and to use MSIL 's local manufacturing capabilities.

The car will compete with the Mahindra Thar and the Gurkha Power, both of which are also 3-door vehicles. Getting three doors doesn't mean it's going to be a two-seater.
