A new 'Atmanirbhar Apps' app that aims to promote apps created in India comes from the company that gave you Mitron, a TikTok-like video app. The app seems to be urging the need for a self-reliant app ecosystem in India, just like Mitron.
Atmanirbhar Apps aims to increase the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, providing users with a fast portal for indigenous apps. Based on categories such as business, e-learning, news, health, shopping, gaming, utility, entertainment, social, and more, the app offers recommendations. Atmanirbhar Applications can only be downloaded on Android devices as of now.
The Atmanirbhar Applications are available on Google Play for free. It helps you to explore more than 100 Indian apps created by local developers and discover them. The Atmanirbhar Pledge to endorse the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative launched by Narendra Modi is also optional. The software needs no registration, and once downloaded, it instantly throws up suggestions for all the Indian applications a user can download. These include Aarogya Setu, BHIM, JioTV, DigiLocker, Kaagaz Scanner, and even IRCTC Rail Link, the Narendra Modi app.
The platform currently hosts more than 100 applications and plans to launch 500 apps by the end of this year. The platform hosts a broad range of applications from, among others, categories such as e-government, utility, agriculture, gaming , entertainment, lifestyle and e-learning.
You can see the size of the app alongside each app listing, a brief overview, and the number of Indians who support the app. Tapping on the 'Get' button in the right corner will redirect you to the app's Play Store page. You also have the option of taking a pledge to use Indian applications on top of all this.
