Harley-Davidson has unveiled the first-ever electric bicycle from 1903 inspired by the very first motorcycle brands. Within the product development centre of the motorcycle maker, the new business called 'Serial 1 Cycle Company' began as a project.
"The formation of Serial 1 allows Harley-Davidson to play a key role in this mobility revolution while allowing Serial 1 to focus exclusively on the e-bicycle customer and deliver an unmatched riding experience rooted in freedom and adventure," said Aaron Frank, Brand Director for Serial 1 Cycle Company.
The name "Serial 1" is a homage to the company's oldest known motorbike, the "Serial Number One" nickname. So, to give it a touch of nostalgia, the design team of the Serial 1 e-bike took a lot of inspiration from the Serial Number One motorcycle.
A shiny jet-black frame with a pair of white-tire wheels comes with the bike. In addition, to give it a classy look, the team covered the seat of the Serial 1 e-bike with leather.
For its forthcoming e-bike, the company issued no spec-sheet. The Serial 1 will, however, have a mid-mounted electric motor, according to the Serial 1 Cycle Brand Manager, Aaron Frank, and will come with several other main features of a high-end electric bike.
In March 2021, the company is preparing to introduce the bike for sale. The price at this time is also unknown.
