In government employment for economically weaker sections (EWS) of the general group, a reservation of 10 percent will be given, said the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC). This will refer to all work updates that are active on 23 October.

The last date for the work applications was extended to 14 November. However, this extension does not extend to candidates who do not have a reservation limit for department work.

On 21 October, the Kerala cabinet authorised a 10 percent reservation for government jobs, as well as admissions to educational institutions, in the general category of the EWS, which is usually not in the reservation category. The parameters for determining whether or not an person is eligible for the reservation would be family revenue and economic backwardness.

For those of Scheduled Castes , Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Groups, 50 percent reservation is currently permitted. The current reservation system would not be affected by the new system. The Cabinet also agreed to change, for that reason, the Kerala State and Subordinate Rules.

Based on the 103rd Amendment of the Constitution, the Centre had previously agreed to include the 10 percent quota without impacting the SC / ST and other backward communities with a 50 percent reservation.
