Xiaomi is working on a new foldable phone and a 108-megapixel camera will come with it. And the good news is, maybe we'll be seeing the phone as early as next year.

Xiaomi is among the first smartphone manufacturers to take Samsung up on its offer to use its 'Ultra-Thin Glass' technology as the basis for their own plans for foldable phones, as stated by XDA Developers. ZDNet Korea reports that the Chinese giant is turning to its Korean rival in an attempt to source flexible displays for an upcoming clamshell smartphone, citing sources in the components industry in Korea.

People at XDA Developers plucked these information out of the MIUI 12 code. The code allegedly talks about a foldable device called "cetus" in the works, running on the Android 11-based version of MIUI.

The specifics refer further to a Snapdragon 800 chipset driven handset. This could be either the latest Snapdragon 865 + processor with support for 5 G connectivity. Or, while highly unlikely, the Snapdragon 875 chipset may be probable.

The phone 's flagship status is further confirmed by the use of a 108-megapixel camera. The same sensor has already been used by the company on the Mi 10 series.
