The Royal Enfield company's history dates back to 1901, when Bob Walker-Smith and Frenchman Jules Gotiet created the company's first-ever motorcycle. A 239cc engine capable of producing 11.2hp of power was powered by it. At the time of World War 1 Begins Production of the first 2-stroke motorcycle by Royal Enfield began. The war also forced the company to build the biggest motorcycle in the company, the 770cc 6hp V-twin bike. During the war era, RE supplied bikes to the armies of Britain, Belgium, France, the United States and Imperial Russia. Because of their rigidity and multi-terrain skills, the made as gun bikes were a common choice of armies.
In 1932, the Bullet was born, the well-known model of the company that is still in production. It was offered in 3 versions: powered models of 250cc, 350cc and 500cc engines. As the bike was stiff and strong and comfortable for a ride, the Bullet 350 was also bought by the British army. The new 350cc Bullet generation was introduced in the UK in 1949. Chennai-based K.R Sundaram founded Madras Motorcycles to import British motorcycles into India, including the Royal Enfields.
