PM Modi to inaugurate 2nd Maritime India Summit-2021 on March 2
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the 2nd Maritime India Summit which will be held in a virtual mode on March 2, 2021. The event will be organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and waterways jointly with EY as the knowledge partner and FICCI as the Industrial Partner.
The Maritime India Summit-2021 will provide a unique platform that will have the virtual and physical presence of prominent shipping and transport dignitaries/ministers from all over the world.
The maritime states of India will also be participating in the summit through the dedicated sessions. The summit will include an exclusive CEOs forum and various breakout/thematic sessions.
Chenab bridge, world’s highest rail bridge taller than Eiffel Tower, completes ‘engineering milestone
The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is building the Chenab bridge over a challenging 111 km-stretch under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. It will connect the Valley with the rest of the country through railways
According to Railways officials, the Chenab bridge is being constructed 359 metres above Chenab’s river bed and will be 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower (which has a height of 324 metre).
PM Narendra Modi to get Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award
- The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is all set to receive the “CERAWeek global energy and environment leadership award” at an annual international energy conference which is scheduled in March 2021.
- The CERAWeek Conference-2021 will be held virtually from March 1 to 5, 2021.The conference will be organised by IHS Markit.
- It is an annual international conference that brings together the energy industry leaders, experts. Policy makers. Government officials, leaders from the technology, energy technology innovators and financial & industrial communities.
ISRO launches Brazil’s Amazonia-1 and 18 other satellites
- The Indian Space Research Organisation on February 28, 2021, launched Polar Satellites Launch Vehicle- PSLV C51 carrying Amazonia-1 satellite of Brazil and 18 other satellites of USA and India from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 10.24 am.
- Amazonia-1 is an optical earth observation satellite of the National Institute for Space Research. The launched satellite will further help in strengthening and reinforcing the existing structure by providing remote sensing data in order to monitor deforestation in the Amazon region. It will also provide an analysis of the diversified agriculture across the territory of Brazil.
NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21: UAE
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Pralaya participated in the NAVDEX 21 (Naval Defence Exhibition) and IDEX 21 (International Defence Exhibition)held at Abu Dhabi, UAE .IDEX and NAVDEX, and the International Defence Conference are organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces.
G20 Central Bank Governors’ Meet
- The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, attended the G20 Central Bank Governors’ meeting on February 26, 2021. This was the first ever G20 Central Bank Governors’ meeting that was held under the Italian Presidency.
- During the meeting, the finance minister highlighted regarding the India’s policy response with respect to COVID-19 pandemic and the world’s largest inoculation drive with their G-20 counterparts.
- G20 Grouping is an international forum for governments and central bank governors coming from the 19 countries and European Union (EU). The grouping was founded in the year 1999. It was established with the aim of discussing the policy regarding the promotion of the international financial stability. The grouping has also extended its agenda since 2008 from heads of government or state to the foreign ministers, finance ministers and think tanks.
