PM Narendra Modi to get Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award
- The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is all set to receive the “CERAWeek global energy and environment leadership award” at an annual international energy conference which is scheduled in March 2021.
- It was organised by IHS Markit, one of the leading source of information and insight in critical areas that shape today's business landscape.
- The year 2021 marks the 39th edition of the conference and this was the first time that it was held virtually.

National Interlinking of Rivers Authority (NIRA)
The Central government is working on the establishment of an exclusive body to implement projects for linking rivers. As of now, six ILR projects — the Ken-Betwa, Damanganga-Pinjal, Par-Tapi-Narmada, Manas-Sankosh-Teesta-Ganga, Mahanadi-Godavari and Godavari-Cauvery (Grand Anicut) — have been under examination of the authorities.
Municipal Performance Index: Indore best among cities with million plus population
The government’s Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020 was released by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The assessment framework under MPI 2020 has classified municipalities based on their population- Million+ (municipalities having over a million population) and Less than Million Population. In the Million+ category, Indore has emerged as the highest ranked municipality, followed by Surat and Bhopal.
Ligia Noronha appointed UN Assistant Secretary-General
UN chief Antonio Guterres has appointed leading Indian economist Ligia Noronha as Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the New York Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
