Shree Kopeshwar Temple Khidrapur | Mandir history

Temple where you can see the Tridev at one glance. If we stand at the center of the Swarga Mandapa we can see idols of Prabhu Brahma on the left hand side wall of the entrance of sabha mandap. In the center we can see the Prabhu Shiva Kopeshwar shivling situated in the Garbha Gruha & towards right hand side wall we can see the beautifully carved idol of Prabhu Vishnu. So at one glance we can see the Tridev ' Brahma Mahesh Vishnu '

Daksha, who did not approve of his youngest daughter Sati marrying Lord Shiva, is said to have held a Yagna to which the couple was not invited. Sati went to her father's house on Shiva's Nandi in order to confront him. In front of the guests at the Yagna, Dakhsa insulted her. Sati, unable to take any more insults, jumped into the Yagna fire and self-immolated. When Lord Shiva heard about it, he was angry. He cut Daksha's head off as a revenge. After pacifying Shiva, Lord Vishnu replaced Daksha's head with that of a goat.

Lord Vishnu brought the angry Shiva to this location in order to calm him down. As a result, the temple was given the unusual name of Kopeshwar (wrathful god). This explains why Lord Vishnu appears in the temple as a ling alongside Shivling, but Nandi is not present, as Sati rode on Nandi while visiting her parents' house.
