Vaidyanatheswara temple is in Talakadu dedicated to Prabhu Shiva said to be built between 10th - 14th century during Gangas and Chola dynasty period. It is located In the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka .

The temple is on the bank of river Shimsha which is a tributary river of river Cauvery and lies two Kilometers inside the main town Maddur.

The temple has beautiful carvings and sculptures prominent being the stone ring with snake head at the entrance. it is one of the panchalinga temples in thalakadu. This temple was built in the Dravidian style and has two huge Dwarapalakas standing at the entrance to the main shrine. The doorways are intricately carved and the outer walls too are covered in sculptures.

The prominent being the stone rings at the northeastern side of the temple. Hanging to a five headed serpent from one of the eaves of the temple roof, these beautifully interlocked rings are carved out of a single block of granite.

Panchalinga Temples,Sri Pataleshwara Temple,Maruleshwara Temple and Vaidyanatheshwara Temples are near to each other and Arkeshwara temple and Mallikarjuna temples are out side Talakadu. This temple is at the entrance of the Talakadu Village maintained by Archaeological Survey of India ( ASI).
