Citizens must connect their PAN cards with their Aadhaar cards, according to the Indian government. Although the government has given enough leeway, they have now declared that the last date to link the two identity cards is today, March 31, 2021.
If you're unsure whether or not you've connected your PAN card to your Aadhaar card, you can check the status online:
- Visit the e-filing portal of the I-T department - Click Here
- Enter your PAN card number and Aadhaar number in the box provided
- Click on the check status option " View Link Aadhaar Status " . A screen will open up that will display the status of your Aadhaar
In case you do not have access to the internet, you can link your Aadhaar with PAN via an SMS. In order to do this, you will need to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161. In the text message, one needs to type, 'UIDAIPAN(12digit Aadhaar number) space (10 digit PAN Number).'
