A valid driving license is required for any Indian citizen who owns and rides a car, as it grants the holder the legal right to drive his car on public highways in any region of the country. In all Indian states and union territories, a driver's license is valid for 20 years or until the possessor reaches the age of 50 (whichever comes first).

You should know how to renew your license up to one year before it expires to avoid any issues. In March 2021, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) issued a statement listing 18 license-related contactless services that can be accessed with Aadhaar identification, including driving license renewal.
